Chloe matharu

Chloe Matharu is a Celtic Harpist living on the West Coast of Scotland. Of Scottish, Welsh and Punjabi heritage, Chloe sings in both English and Welsh. She describes herself as a maritime singer, and probably has more right than most to such a claim: her self-written songs draw on her ocean-going experience as a navigational officer in the Merchant Navy, sailing round the world on oil tankers.

Chloe represents a refreshing new take on maritime folk music, with original songs deeply rooted in her own experiences of both maritime industry and the natural world as experienced by those who travel the seas. She even has a song about Arctic Terns - particularly resonant here in Hartlepool, where we're very proud of our annual colony of rare Little Terns!
