Jonny Hannah is an illustrator whose work incorporates influences from folk and outsider art, printmaking, myth-making and fancy. He has designed a vast array of commercial work including album covers, book jackets, and has produced several books of his own. He's been commissioned by everyone from the Royal Opera to the Royal Mail, for whom he designed a series of stamps celebrating folk calendar customs. 

 

Jonny has been commissioned by Church Square Art Gallery to create an exhibition to coincide with the Tall Ships Race coming to Hartlepool in 2023, which will be inspired by the stories and legends he collects over the next year from the people of Hartlepool.

Jonny will be in our Workshop Marquee in the Family Folk Festival, talking to people, collecting stories and running some taster sessions in lino-cut printing. Stop by, have a chat, and have a go at making your own print. He'll also be giving a talk where you can find out more about the project.
