The Davenports are a four-part family band who play a range of traditional and original songs, with accompaniment on guitar, cittern and duet concertina.

Paul and Liz were at the forefront of Hallamshire Traditions, helping to protect and preserve Yorkshire folk traditions. Their repertoire is built on a joint passion for researching and unearthing old songs; Paul is also a very fine songwriter. Amy and Gavin sing songs about life, love and loss with a strong maritime undercurrent reflecting Amy’s former career as a professional tall-ships sailor, and build on Gavin’s experience as a musician, singer and songwriter in acts including The Albion Band, Crucible, The Morris on Band and solo work.

 In 2021 Liz and Paul were awarded the prestigious Gold Badge of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) for their services to English traditional music and dance.
