John Tams

Described by Mojo as 'one of the ultimate British songwriters', John Tams has had a career spanning six decades. He is a true Renaissance man: an actor, musician and composer across film, TV and theatre.
A member of the Albion Band and Home Service, he is well known for his role as Rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe television series, for which he also co-wrote the score. He is a seven-time winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. He was musical director and producer of the 2006 BBC Radio Ballads, which won gold at the Sony Radio Awards.
At the National Theatre, he has worked as an actor and musical director/composer on over 30 productions, but perhaps most notably, he wrote the music for the National's internationally-acclaimed stage production of War Horse.
Despite his staggeringly accomplished CV, John is a warm and down-to-earth performer. His concerts feel like spending time with an old friend - albeit an incredibly gifted one.
