Iarla Ó’Lionáird & Tim Edey

Iarla Ó Lionáird has carved a long and unique career in music both internationally and in Ireland. He’s a child of traditional music, born and bred in Cúil Aodha, in the belly of the West Cork Gaeltacht, with Seán Ó Riada a neighbour and indisputable early influence. His great aunt, the traditional singer Elizabeth Cronin, had forged a reputation for rich interpretation before him.
A twice Grammy nominated artist, Ó Lionáird has worked with a stellar cast of composers internationally, and he has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Peter Gabriel, Nick Cave, Robert Plant and Sinead O’Connor. His unique singing style has carried him to stages and concert halls all over the world, from New York’s Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House and beyond. His voice has also graced the silver screen, with film credits extending from “The Gangs of New York” to “Hotel Rwanda” and most recently as featured singer in the film “Brooklyn” starring Saoirse Ronan. He is the vocalist with the critically acclaimed Irish/American band “The Gloaming.”
Tim Edey is one of the most sought-after solo artists and accompanists in UK & Irish traditional music. A double BBC Musician of the Year and BBC ALBA Best Traditional Musician Award winner, he has toured the world and recorded with most of the major names in Celtic/Contemporary roots music including The Chieftains, Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon, Ross Ainslie, Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy, Altan, Capercaillie, Brendan Power, Michael McGoldrick, Seamus Begley, Dougie Maclean, Kevin Burke, Liam O’Maonlai, Session A9, Lunasa, Mary Black and Julie Fowlis.
Tim is now a name on the world musical stage in his own right, and is rated by many to be one of the finest melodeon and guitar players in both the folk & contemporary scene.
This is a masterful collaboration which oozes pure class.
